The Ret Pally PvE Guide to DPS Empty The Ret Pally PvE Guide to DPS

I don't WHY this is, but a HUGE amount of us ret pallies are in gear that has some kind of tanking stat on it like defense rating, dodge, etc..... DON'T DO THAT! YOU MAKE RET PALLIES LOOK BAD! There is NO reason to have that type of gear when you are just meant to do damage.

Here are stats that you want to look for. (Not in order of importance, as it is pretty equal. And honestly, its almost personal preference.)

    Attack Power
    Critical Strike Rating
    Strength
    Agility
    Hit Rating

These next two are OPTIONAL and you should only get them when you have enough of everything else. (refer to Buff's Karazhan guide that lists the minimum stats)

    Haste
    Intellect

ALWAYS REMEMBER, EVEN THE SHITTIEST GREEN DPS GEAR IS MORE USEFUL THAN TANKING STUFF. ALWAYS.

This is also an area where I see people failing horribly. SPAMMING SEAL OF THE CRUSADER AND CRUSADER STRIKE WON'T CUT IT. SORRY. An important thing pallys miss is Seal of Blood. They ignore it because they don't like the fact it deals damage back to the caster. But the reason it does that is because it is so godly. The amount of damage it does is amazing because it procs every hit. Also, the damage that it deals back to you can be beneficial. As I've said, pallies go OOM quick. But we have a move called "Spiritual Attunement" (in the prot move list, available to all pallies) that for every heal we get, 10% of the amount healed also goes into your mana. With Seal of Blood, the damage you get dealt back will give a little warning for the healer to toss a heal your way. Sure it puts a little more pressure on the healer, but you'll be out dpsing some of the dps made classes like a mage or a rogue.

Here is a generic casting order you will want to follow:

    Start of fight

    Seal of the Crusader
    Judgment

    Middle of fight

    Seal of Blood
    Crusader Strike
    Judgment
    Repeat as needed

End of fight (for boss fights only)

Use trinkets and Avenging Wrath. (If the boss fight is long, you might also want to do this in the beginning so you can use it again at the end.)

Spam Crusader strike, Seal of Blood, Judgment, Consecration ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO DO DAMAGE. WASTE ALL YOUR MANA.
